In the past year, the HAJDU Group was significantly affected by rising raw material and energy prices, as well as supply uncertainties. Despite these challenges, the HAJDU Group closed the 2022 financial year with positive results, continuing the growth of previous years, increasing its revenue by more than one-third, and achieving a turnover of 30 billion HUF.
HAJDU Hajdúsági Ipari Zrt. can look back on a stable business year. The company adapted quickly to external changes, resulting in dynamic revenue growth and commendable profitability. In 2022, it generated revenue of 19.3 billion HUF, a 41% increase compared to the previous year. Indirect hot water storage tanks, buffer tanks, and air-to-water heating/cooling heat pumps were particularly popular. Due to rising energy costs and supply uncertainties, many customers opted to replace their equipment with more energy-efficient, modern products or to upgrade their buildings from an energy-efficiency perspective, installing heat pumps or renewable energy systems.
In addition to maintaining a stable domestic market, the company expanded its export sales, establishing relationships with many new partners. HAJDU Hajdúsági Ipari Zrt. exports its products to approximately 30 countries.
Alongside export growth, the company is increasingly focusing on innovative, renewable energy-based products for the domestic market, such as heat pumps and associated heating/cooling buffer storage tanks.
As part of its medium-term development plan, a 496 kW solar power plant was installed in 2022. The facility’s 1,280 solar panels generate 585,000 kWh annually, covering about 20% of HAJDU Hajdúsági Ipari Zrt.’s electricity demand.
HAJDU Autotechnika Zrt. exceeded its preliminary plans, achieving 35% growth and generating revenue of 10.8 billion HUF. “The increase in our revenue was largely influenced by the inflationary effects of sharply rising energy and raw material prices last year, but there was also room for volume growth,” said Anna Dedéné Novotni, CEO of HAJDU Autotechnika. While they were able to pass on the raw material price increases, the additional costs resulting from high energy prices could only be partially transferred to their automotive clients, which reduced their overall profit. The structural transformation taking place in the automotive industry is also taken into account in HAJDU Autotechnika’s strategy, placing significant emphasis on expanding and restructuring its client base. In recent periods, they have achieved notable success, establishing relationships with numerous new partners. Today, in addition to manufacturing components for exhaust systems, they produce parts for seats, sunroof systems, and even certain body components.
In light of the current energy situation, the HAJDU Group’s medium-term development plan focuses heavily on technologies that reduce and optimize energy consumption while also contributing to energy production. For 2023, the company plans the implementation of two additional solar power plants and will continue to execute its medium-term investment package totaling 2.4 billion HUF, which is scheduled for completion in 2024.
